Letter from the Owners
For us, games aren’t just a hobby — they’re a way of bringing people together. We’ve been hosting game nights with friends, filling countless evenings with dice rolls, card shuffles, and laughter around the table for years. After all the time spent sharing our favorite hobbies in our dining room, we decided to take the leap and start something bigger of our own: Crit N Clatter Games.
Right now, we’re beginning as an online shop — the first step toward our bigger dream of opening a full brick-and-mortar hobby store here in Kerrville, Texas.
Jeanette’s love for games started early, playing classics like Scrabble, Risk, and Monopoly with her family. Over the years, that love expanded into a passion for indie board games of all kinds — from fast-paced party games to sprawling, hours-long strategy sessions. There’s nothing she enjoys more than teaching a new game and watching people discover their next favorite.
Bailey has been a proud nerd since childhood, spending countless hours lost in single-player RPGs. His first introduction to Magic: The Gathering came in elementary school, but he never truly learned how to play. In high school, a friend helped him build his first standard deck but since it was his only deck, his friend quickly learned how to beat it every time. The constant losses made the game feel less fun, and Bailey stepped away from Magic, focusing on video games instead.
In college, Jeanette brought board games back into his life, and together they began hosting regular game nights with friends — a tradition they’ve kept ever since. Years later, in his late 30s, Bailey’s best friend Artie reintroduced him to Magic, this time teaching him the Commander format. These experiences taught him that what makes a game truly great is the people who take the time to share it with you. That fresh start — paired with his love of board games and new adventures in D&D — reignited his passion for tabletop gaming and became part of the inspiration for opening Crit & Clatter Games.
Together, they’ve found new adventures in Dungeons & Dragons, discovered Kickstarter-backed board game gems with the help of their friends Thom and Esther, and filled their shelves (and sometimes their entire table) with the games they love most.
At the heart of Crit & Clatter Games is a simple idea: games are better when shared. They want to help people discover their next favorite, whether it’s a classic they’ve never played before or a brand-new release they’ve been eager to try.
Thanks for joining us on this adventure. We’re excited to grow this shop, build our community, and — someday soon — welcome you into our very own game space.
With love and dice,
